The American humorist Don Marquis classified limericks as:
"$1 Limericks": Those that can be told in the company of ladies.
"$2 Limericks": Those that can be told in the company of a parson.
"$10 Limericks": Real limericks.
There are some of each below. Those easily offended may want to keep to the ladies and parsons, though the high-priced feature the "distinguished literary commentary" of
Norman Douglas.
